Overview
A modern digital signal processor has been combined with proprietary algorithms to achieve the new standard in diver communications.
All Hydrolinx
intercoms have superior noise reduction capabilities that produce the clearest speech
of any dive intercom on the market today. Models are available for one, two or three divers, and two intercoms can be connected
to accommodate additional divers.
Helium unscrambler models have a distinct mode (algorithm) for each of seven depth ranges.
This produces the most natural sounding and intelligible speech available today at any depth.
Simple, intuitive controls make it easy for the tender to adjust every function.
Two kinds of noise reduction are incorporated in every Hydrolinx intercom!
Background Noise Reduction (BNR)
Background noise reduction attenuates continuous noise from sources such as free flowing gas and bubbles.
The processor adaptively tracks the noise spectrum and subtracts it from the signal.
The operator optimizes the attenuation level for optimal speech quality.
Inhalation Noise Reduction (INR)
Inhalation noise reduction mutes inhalation noise from demand breather valves.
This is important in multi-diver systems because one diver's speech is often masked by another
diver's inhalation noise. The processor reliably distinguishes inhalation noise from speech and background noise.
Individual diver microphones are muted during inhalation. This permits clear reception of the speech from other divers.
The operator optimizes the inhalation detection sensitivity optimal performance.
An LED indicator for each diver shows when muting is active.
Helium-Speech Unscrambler (HSU)
The helium unscrambler function uses proprietary algorithms to transform helium distorted speech into a normal sounding voice.
Each diver's signal is processed individually for the clearest, most intelligible speech available today.
Modes (algorithms) are available for optimal performance in every diving configuration, including: all depths,
compression chambers, microphones, languages and voice qualities. The operator chooses the mode
and adjusts the frequency reduction ratio for the most intelligible speech.
Compatibility
- Microphone:
All Hydrolinx intercoms manufactured since 1/1/2012 work with both Dynamic (5-150 ohm) and PreAmp microphones.
They detect the type of microphone used by each diver individually and automatically adjust the audio level accordingly.
- Earphone: 8-32 ohm.
- Umbilical: The standard cable has two shielded twisted pair conductors.
Hydrolinx normally tests with a 1600 foot cable.
Use high quality cable with a shielded twisted pair for the microphone.
As for all dive intercoms on the market, cables, with high crosstalk, do not work in 4-wire mode.
This issue applies to 4-wire mode only. Cheap cables work in 2-wire mode.
- Kirby Morgan: The standard Kirby Morgan microphone and headset are compatible.
Ensure that the type of microphone and speaker match the original equipment.
